Redeemer Lutheran School Remembers September 11
Students, teachers, and parents gathered at the flag pole in front of Redeemer Lutheran Church and School to remember the attacks and events of September 11, 2001. This solemn moment gave our school community an opportunity to pause, reflect, pray, and entrust our nation and neighbors to the mercy of God. As a Lutheran church and school in Salt Lake City, we believe it is important for students to learn history with reverence, honesty, and Christian hope.
A Time of Remembrance at the Flag Pole
September 11 remains a day of sorrowful memory for many families across our country. Even 25 years later, the events of that day call us to remember those who died, those who served, those who grieved, and those whose lives were forever changed. Gathering at the flag pole helped students understand that remembrance is not merely about recalling facts, but about honoring life, praying for peace, and seeking comfort in Christ.
Teaching History with Faith and Hope
At Redeemer Lutheran Church and School, moments like this help students see that Christian education includes both the mind and the heart. We teach history not as distant information, but as part of life in a fallen world where sin, suffering, courage, service, grief, and mercy are all real. Prayer for 9/11 – September 11, 2026
Gracious God, heavenly Father,
You know the shock and sorrow of the events this day had 25 years ago across the land. We reflect on that day today. We are helpless before the evil that afflicts us and therefore cry out to You for comfort, shelter, and protection. Mercifully embrace those still frightened in Your love, empower the weak with Your strength, restrain the wicked by Your might, and preserve the righteous in Your grace, giving us Your peace and turning tragedy to triumph; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
