ONE Redeemer: 100 Lunches Packed with Love for The Road Home Utah
When God’s people come together in faith and service, wonderful things can happen! At Redeemer Lutheran Church and School in Salt Lake City, students, teachers, parents, and church members recently joined hands to prepare 100 lunches for children in need through The Road Home Utah. From our youngest helpers to our adult volunteers, everyone had a part to play in this joyful act of Christian mercy.
Our motto, “Christ Centered, Student Focused, Service Minded, ONE Redeemer,” came beautifully to life during this project. Together, we discovered that when many hands share the work, even packing 100 lunches becomes a joyful and manageable task. We are truly blessed to be a blessing to our neighbors!
Serving Our Salt Lake City Community with Christian Love
Christian service is an important part of life at Redeemer Lutheran Church and School. Our Lord Jesus Christ teaches us to love our neighbors, and the Christian faith calls us to respond to the needs of others with compassion and generosity. Packing lunches for children in need provided a practical opportunity to put that love into action.
Each lunch represented something greater than food alone. It was a small expression of kindness, concern, and Christian fellowship from a community that cares about the well-being of its neighbors. We give thanks to God for the opportunity to serve families facing difficult circumstances in the Salt Lake City area.
Partnering with The Road Home Utah
The Road Home is a Utah nonprofit organization that provides emergency shelter, supportive services, and housing assistance to individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Its work helps people facing housing instability find assistance and move toward lasting stability. We are grateful for the opportunity to support this important community organization through our lunch-packing project.
100 Lunches, One Shared Mission
Seeing children and adults working side by side was one of the greatest blessings of this experience. Our students learned that serving others does not require grand gestures or extraordinary resources. Sometimes Christian love is expressed through simple acts of kindness, faithfully completed together.
Christian Education That Encourages Service
As a private Christian school in Salt Lake City, Redeemer Lutheran School believes education involves more than academic achievement. We seek to nurture students in the knowledge of God’s Word while helping them recognize opportunities to serve their neighbors. Projects like this remind children that faith in Christ bears fruit in lives of gratitude, mercy, and love.
Faith, Learning, and Mercy at ONE Redeemer
The Lutheran Church teaches that we are saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ, not by our good works. Yet, because Christ has first loved us, we are free to love and serve others without seeking to earn God’s favor. Our students experience this important distinction when they learn that Christian service is a grateful response to the Gospel.
Thank You to Our Redeemer Church and School Family
We extend our heartfelt thanks to every student, parent, teacher, and congregation member who helped prepare these 100 lunches. Your willingness to serve demonstrates the beautiful partnership between church, school, and home. Together, we can continue sharing Christ’s love through meaningful service throughout Salt Lake City.
